  Practical, anecdotal, accessible to linguists and enthusiasts alike.
• I have just reviewed the book by the German author Hans Joachim Storig, "Sprachen Abenteure", which means in English "the Adventure of Languages", saying that this is the best book avaiable (sadly only in German).Ok, the second best is this one from the French female author Henriette Walter, who presents all that is to know about the formation of languages in Europe, thus narrowing the subject of Mr. Storig to european languages only, which is not in itself a great problem.
  
  The better points of Ms.Walter book is her presentations of dialogues in Germanic languages and others, specially, the reconstructed dialogue in Indo-european, the language that gave birth to Latin, Greek, etc..
  
  Ok, you can either try your French readind this book in the original language, or wait for it to be published eventually in English.If I were you, I would give your French I try. Bonne Lecture.

  It was written by an expert for those who want to have not only an idea, but a real view of some of the languages spoken in Europe and North, Middle and South-America.
  I expected to read the book in English, but I guess it wasn't translated. So I read it in French. It will polish up your knowledge in the language. You will have fun to discover lots of curiosities about not only languages, but also historical facts and aspects of people and countries. A real Must-have in your personal library!
