Anxiety transforms from a crutch into an ally with this empowering self-help guide to mastering fear
When panic attacks threatened to sideline her health, career, and relationships, Caroline Foran felt overcome by anxiety's hold on her life. But instead of letting anxiety own her, she decided to own it, developing a toolkit of practical and effective methods that helped her master the fear and insecurity affecting so many people around the world. Although there's no way to eliminate anxiety altogether, nor a quick fix to become 100 percent fearless, Foran helps identify anxiety's triggers - laying out healthy routines such as sleep and diet that keep it at bay, and offering soothing remedies to quell panic in any situation. All these, plus professional insights from mental health experts, make Own It a comprehensive guide to putting anxiety in its place.

"Own It by Caroline Foran is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in early April.
Originally published in Ireland in 2017, Foran offers explanations and exercises centered around anxiety and panic attacks, as well as the concept of living with and/or owning up to your anxiety (like making it manageable with limited flare-ups), instead of abolishing or scourging it away like other books might seek to do. Foran, herself, is open and makes no effort to hide when her anxiety was at its worst and encourages a reader to trace back and find the source of anxious, stressful thoughts and what your triggers might be, i.e. delayed reaction to latent fear. From there, one should hone their personal strengths to acknowledge, accept, and accommodate their anxiety, not over analyzing panic as it happens, but treating and breathing through it, and to honor yourself with self-care and quit measuring yourself up to a socioemotional ideal."

It doesn’t matter if you have anxiety or not, this book will help you to understand what others that do have it are going through. This book is very thorough. It covers all kinds of ways to get relief from anxiety. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to EVERYONE!!! The author, Carolyn, has a GREAT writing style. I love how she makes you feel as though she is talking specifically with you. She gives you examples of things that she’s went through and the ways that her anxiety caused physical sickness. GREAT, GREAT BOOK!!!! YOU MUST READ!!!!
- Helpful and insightful book into dealing with and owning your anxiety. There are lots of helpful tidbits throughout the book and I found myself highlighting many parts that seemed to speak directly to me. This book doesn't feel preachy at all and it really feels like chatting with a friend who deals with anxiety and what methods might help to best "own it" and not let it consume you.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who struggles with or suffers from any symptoms of anxiety. - I am still reading this book but so far have found it helpful
